The following is a five tweet thread I just posted onto twitter, explaining my hopes and goals with Mr. Mower, of which the demo is coming out tomorrow.


Well would you look at that, the demo for Mr. Mower is set to come out tommorow. I can't believe I was able to pull this off, like really. This was quite the struggle for me. Sometimes I wanted to give up again, but something kept me going, don't know what that was tho.


It could be frustration with myself over not finishing a project like this, maybe I finally snapped. But for some reason something has kept me going even when I didn't want to. Not that I hate myself, but I'm still not sure how this is going to do, but I don't care about that.


The goal with Mr. Mower is to put out a game on steam, just to say that I can. I doubt this game will make me lots of money, but it will make me proud. Because I will be able to say that I put out a game on steam, who knows, it might work as a good pickup line one day lol.


I know a lot of people probably aren't gonna like the game or just not care, but as long as I care than that's what matters the most to me.

I know I don't show a lot of humanity here, but that's because it's hard to do so for me. So now I hope to see Mr. Mower make its way out.


Out into the world as a way of me saying that I have what it takes to put a game out there. And may it hopefully be a small start to my big plans for game dev.

Managed to get the call to action in place for the trailer, and with that I am now waiting on steam to approve my page, I also managed to get a build uploaded to steam.


Of course I am going to upload the demo to Newgrounds as well, just need to set that up as well.

I got the steam page completed, and now it's off for review from steam.

Now that I have this set up, I can really commit to putting this game out, and I really will now since if I don't then people won't trust me lol.


This was big relief in my opinion, and now I am going to spend the rest of my thanksgiving with family : )

Finally got the trailer done for the most part, still need to work out some promo images that are meant to go at the end as part of the call to action on will usually in one of these things.

This took me a lot of trial and error for the most part. The first part was deciding what happens in the trailer, which I blocked out using text to describe what should happen. The next part was recording the footage I decided I needed in the blocking out process, which wasn't all that hard TBH. Then from there I finetuned where I wanted each clip to start and end based on how I decided each clip to be.


And now here it is, now to put on the promo images I'll be working on next.


I do hope to put the game out by the 28th, but I continue to have issues uploading builds through the SDK and steam support hasn't been responding at a good pace so far, so I am not completely sure.

Part of having to delay my game was so that I could actually work on the trailer necessary for the steam page, of which I spent part of today drafting out as shown belowiu_813634_7935810.webp


Still gotta shoot the footage since I now have an idea of what it should look like at least, but that shouldn't take long.


Overall I would say this is an interesting learning experience as I would not call myself a video editor that much.


Hopefully the demo comes out by next Monday the 28th, and hopefully hopefully it frontpages, because that would be nice I think.


I will return once I have successfully edited the trailer footage.

Oh hey it did


OK here's footage of the first lawn you encounter in Mr. Mower, it's your usual tutorial level, introducing you to the premise and making sure you can't die at all, not even if you tried really hard.


Another important thing I did for this lawn was to make it really short to clear, there's only 100 bits of grass you gotta mow down, so It doesn't take much. I also outline Hane's intentions, which is definitely based on what I want this project to do for me.

Hi there


I'm not really sure how to start one these things at the moment, but I think just saying hello for now can work.

In case you are not aware, I am currently working on a top down lawnmowing game called Mr. Mower. I am hoping to make this my first game on steam. The main goal of Mr. Mower is to mostly just learn how to put a game out on steam, I know this game will most certainly not provide me with lots of money, but at least I'll be able to say I have put a game out on steam.

Here's a screenshot of what the game looks like, I would upload a GIF but I don't know how yet.


I began working on the game as far back as march of this year, when I took part in the spring game jam hosted by Goodgis, and created a game about mowing lawns as my submission.


The game managed to make it to fifth place, which I think was pretty cool, and I liked the game so much I decided to take a leap and make it my first commercial project.


After beginning to work on the commercial version I had struggled a bit to work on it and to stay motivated, but eventually I managed to pull through and put a demo of what the full release could look like, which you can play here on NG: https://www.newgrounds.com/portal/view/845943


Although I wasn't really satisfied with this version, and because of that I went into another slump, unsure of what to do.


I eventually decided to pull myself together and continue working on the game, because I had realized that if I don't do this then no one else will, I was also tired of giving up on projects at this point.


Now I am here after really working through the game nonstop since september, and now I hope to have the new demo and a steam page out by next week and a day.


I don't know how to end these things, so I'm just gonna say goodbye for now. Hopefully I get better at these things from now on because I really like the idea.
